I was fortunate this past week to travel to White Sands National Monument in New Mexico with some priviledged access to the famed gypsum dunes.
Especially because it’s January, I had to keep reminding myself that I was not looking at snow despite the sand drifting and glittering the way snow does at home. I’m not sure my companions were entirely impressed when I gave in and dropped to the ground to make snow angels.
